About SynthesisDANCE:
Under the direction of Tracie Stanfield, SynthesisDANCE creates high-energy dance theater works that connect with audiences through their accessibility, wit, musicality, and human-scale drama. Rooted in the traditions of American jazz dance, with an affinity for emotion, tone, and story, SynthesisDANCE pushes beyond conventions of genre and entertainment to explore themes such as loss, emptiness, excess, what it means to be a woman (and even a world in which creepy dolls come to life!), through a "masterful fusion of contemporary and classical dance forms and their combination of integrity and intellectual rigour" (Huffington Post UK). Winner of The Spirit of Elan Award, SynthesisDANCE has performed throughout the US at venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Bryant Park, Symphony Space, The Duke Theatre, Untermyer Gardens, BAM Fisher and The Booking Dance Festival in Edinburgh. Bringing audiences closer to dance is central to Synthesis' mission, so touring activities often include performances for the stage, as well as master classes and other opportunities for audience engagement. The company is based in New York City.
