After a successful premier event in 2017, Buggé Ballet and Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University join forces again for the second Liberty Hall Dance Festival, New Jersey’s historically inspired dance festival, on Saturday, September 29th from 1-4pm. Applications are now open to be part of this exciting second year!

Liberty Hall Dance Festival welcomes proposals for historically inspired performances in any genre of dance. In 2017, the festival brought 15 professional companies from the tri-state area to the beautiful Liberty Hall Museum, performing for over 200 people at site-specific outdoor locations. Choreographers have the opportunity to present work in a unique venue surrounded by picturesque nature. Dancer Jai Mason remarked about last year's event: "To say performing at Liberty Hall Dance Festival was a pleasure does not capture the wonders that the performers and visitors experienced during this amazing day of art and history. There was a sense of community and of art awareness and education, all done with the mutual core love of dance."

Each historically inspired piece will be performed twice at one of six site specific performance locations across the beautiful museum grounds. Choreographers are invited to submit one piece, 8 minutes max in duration, for consideration. Both professional dance companies and pre-professional dance programs are welcome to apply. Additionally, choreographers and/or performers have the opportunity to teach a 30 minute movement lesson relating to dance in the late 18th to 20th centuries.

All accepted pieces, choreographers and performers, will be required to attend the performance on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1-4pm and must be available on the rain date of Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 1-4pm. Tech rehearsal will be during the morning of the performance. The Liberty Hall Museum in Union, New Jersey is easily accessible from NYC, just three train stops away.

A non-refundable application fee of $12 is due at the time of applying. All applications are due by midnight on Friday, March 30th.
