Whim W'Him Seattle Contemporary Dance seeking Choreographers

Whim W’Him dancers, under the artistic direction of Olivier Wevers, seek choreographers to create new contemporary dance works for the company’s fifth annual “Choreographic Shindig V” Selected choreographers will be invited to Seattle to create an original dance with the Whim W’Him dancers. Choreographers share three to four weeks residency, which culminates in seven public performances in Seattle, at the Erickson Theater in September 2019.
We are offering an opportunity for emerging and established choreographers to develop works on our dancers. The dancers will be involved in selecting the choreographers for the residency. This approach gives the dancers a voice in curating the program, becoming fully involved in a new aspect of the artistic process.
DETAILS
+ Choreographers will receive a $3,500 stipend; travel and housing will also be provided
+ Selected choreographers will have over 60 hours of rehearsal space with the Whim W’Him dancers
+ Budget for costumes and other technical needs is limited and shall be discussed with Artistic Director
+ Residency weeks during June, July and/or August 2019
