Kizuna Dance Seeks Interns!

KIZUNA DANCE is searching for interns for its 2018-2019 season! Interested applicants should be interested/versed in Arts Administration, Fundraising/Development, and/or Digital Marketing.

 

THE COMPANY:

Kizuna Dance blends elements of breaking, house dance, and capoeira with contemporary floorwork to create works that resonate with physicality, humanity, and intricacy while also celebrating the Japanese culture. In just four short years, Kizuna Dance has presented work and toured nationally and internationally at prestigious institutions and festivals such as The Japan Society, Performatica, the LDIF Festival, Middlebury Institute for International Studies, Gibney Dance, Movement Research, Dixon Place, Against the Grain / Men in Dance, the 92nd Street Y, the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, and the Wassaic Project Summer Festival, among many others. Kizuna Dance was founded by Artistic Director Cameron McKinney, who has been described as “brilliant” (Huffington Post) and whose choreographic work has been recognized through a Choreographic Fellowship from the Alvin Ailey Foundation, an Audience Choice Award from the 2017 Men in Dance Festival in Seattle, and commissions from institutions and festivals across the country and abroad.

Kizuna Dance features a roster of professional educators and is committed to community outreach to peoples of all ages and backgrounds.  The company has lead workshops and residencies in eleven states and internationally in Japan, Mexico, and the UK.

THE INTERNSHIP:

Interns will be directly involved with the planning of special events, fundraising pledge drives, and working with Artistic Director Cameron McKinney on tour logistics. Interns will be able to engage directly with the company and its Advisory Board on ongoing and upcoming projects, including prospective donor searches, creating a social media post calendar, venue research for future shows, event management, and booking rehearsal space.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Interested applicants should be able to work well individually and follow clear instructions, while also being willing/able to take the initiative to move projects forward. The ability to adhere to project deadlines is a MUST. Applicants must be detail-oriented, and be comfortable with both oral and written communication. Applicants must be comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite. Experience in photography/videography, photo editing, or WIX, Mailchimp is a plus, but not required.

 

COMMITMENT:

Intern must commit to 10-20 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship, but college credit can be given. Availability on Sundays, 10 - 2pm is a definite plus, but not required.

The internship will begin in July. Exact start and end dates can be negotiated after the interview process.
