Deadline Approaching! Uptown Rising Performance Series is now accepting applications for the Winter/Spring 2019 Season!

 

The Bridge for Dance Inc Presents: The Uptown Rising Performance Series

After presenting 50+ artists in our inaugural 2018 season, Uptown Rising returns in 2019 with the Emerging Choreographers Series! We are proud to give artists the affordable opportunity to present their work and receive written audience feedback. Additionally, one choreographer from each show will win free space and the opportunity to teach a 2 hour workshop at the Bridge for Dance!

About Uptown Rising:

Designed with the choreographer in mind, the Uptown Rising Performance Series strives to create affordable programs, workshops and performance opportunities that connect artists to the space, their art, and to the growing community at the Bridge.

Performances are held in our large studio turned black box theatre, providing the opportunity to explore new ideas, revisit works in progress, and build on the creative process; all within the comfort of an intimate setting!

Choreographers will receive written feedback submitted by the audience and gain access to half-priced space throughout their process. The audience will vote for their favorite piece from each night; following the performance will we host a Q&A session and networking reception, allowing artists the space to discuss their work and process!

All choreographers will receive:

-Video of performed work

-Photos from tech and showcase

-Full tech & dress

-Discounted rehearsal space at Bridge for Dance Studios

-Exclusive choreographer showings to network with the fellow artists

-Post performance Q&A session and networking reception

-Written feedback from the audience

-Opportunity to showcase previously choreographed works, works in progress, or premiere new work

 

Audience Favorite Uptown Rising Choreographers will receive:

-4 hours of free rehearsal space at Bridge for Dance Studios

-4 months of half-priced space at Bridge for Dance

-Free 2 hour workshop to teach at Bridge for Dance. Choreographer will receive 50% of profits made

Application Deadline: December 26th

Notification of Acceptance: December 29th

Tech: Friday, March 1st

Application Deadline: January 12th

Notification of Acceptance: January 15th

Saturday, March 30th | 7:30pm

Application Deadline: February 9th

Notification of Acceptance: February 12th

*an application fee of $12 will be due upon completion

**if accepted into the series, choreographers will be responsible for a $45 production fee.

***this fee will be spread out in two installments, and is due the week of the corresponding tech date.
