Women/Womyn Identifying Choreographers of Color Submission Call Extended

ModArts Dance Collective (MADC) is elated to announce its fourth annual dance festival, Collective Thread, on March 1-2, 2019 7:30 PM at Mark Morris Dance Center. The purpose of Collective Thread is to provide a voice and a platform for artistic self-impression to those women/womyn identifying artists of underrepresented ethnic groups within the medium of dance. Collective Thread strives to imbue artists with the necessary tools to increase diversity and gender equality through leadership roles in the dance field. The 2019 open call for submission is November 12th - December 21th at 5 PM. Please complete the application form and submit the non-refundable $25 application fee through Venmo (Venmo account name: @ModArts_Dance or email address: modartsdancecollective@gmail.com) or a PayPal invoice for consideration. Please note that there is a 2.9 % transaction fee plus 0.30 if paying through a PayPal invoice. If interested in paying through a PayPal invoice, please email us at modartsdancecollective@gmail.com. The artists’ applications will be selected based on the following criteria: 1. Artistic Excellence 2. Artistic Vision/Mission and its connectivity with people of color 3. Subject matter relevant to women/womyn identifying people of color. Artists will be notified by January 4, 2019. If chosen, artists will sign a letter of agreement and pay a $50 non-refundable production fee through Venmo to confirm her participation in the dance festival. Participating artists will receive free photos and a video of the performance piece, as well as an allocated tech/dress time, four lighting cues, free admission to the Me/We workshop on February 27-28, 2019 6-9 PM and exposure through advertising/marketing.
