The Archival Intern assists the Media and Communications Manager with the daily maintenance of our digital and hard copy video archive, database, press and promotional materials, website, and social media for the full duration of Movement Research's tenure. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, basic organizational skills, and an interest in the documentation of contemporary and experimental dance. Experience with Mac software and Excel are strongly encouraged. Experience with Dreamweaver, iMovie, and/or social media platforms a plus.
Class Registrar & Studio Coordinator
Interns will interact with staff, artists, and faculty assisting with class registration, booking our spaces, scheduling and facilitating contract meeting for artist studio usage agreements, studio maintenance and cleaning, general day-to-day oversight of spaces and programs as needed, and occasionally assisting with office duties and events.
Critical Correspondence
Critical Correspondence Internships are approximately 10 hrs per week, and hours may be distributed unevenly depending on season and needs. The internship term is one year. CC internship tasks: transcribe/edit interviews, help with website maintenance, convert audio files into podcasts, keep a calendar or events, interviews, and other timely matters, participate in preparation of monthly e-newsletter, participate in editorial monthly meeting, deliver recorders from the Movement Research office to interviewers. The ideal candidate will have the following: an interest in engaging contemporary and experimental dance and/or performance work through language, familiarity with web platforms, writing and editing skills, interview skills, ability to work independently, and an investment in the mission and goals of the publication. Audio and video editing skills are also greatly appreciated but not required. The internship is largely self-directed and the intern will most often work from home, aside from monthly meetings. It is a good opportunity to gain experience in the field and hone editorial and critical thinking skills.
Photography
The Photography Intern works with the Media and Communications Department to photograph events and classes for Movement Research. Priority is given to applicants with interest in professional photography and documentation in creative contexts. Commitment is 10-15 hours a week. Ideal candidates will have an attention to detail and a focus for capturing the environment of a performance and research space. Some flexibility is required, as weekly schedule is determined by MR’s schedule of classes and events. Please provide samples of your photography in your application.
