Bankra Festival

Bankra Festival Volunteers Needed

We are so happy to announce that the Bankra Caribbean Folk Festival has grown so much that we need more people to help plan and execute amazing experiences for festival attendees this year.

For one day in June, Jamaica Queens comes alive with tradition music, dance, and folk arts of the Caribbean! A celebration to kick off the summer complete with a cultural display, face painting, take part in family-fun activities, listen to live musical performances, and sample tasty Caribbean delicacies. Volunteers are needed for this one day Festival, to assist with marshalling attendees, directing participants and helping hundreds of New Yorkers as security, activity specialist, Ushers, etc. to enjoy this great Caribbean event - and you'll have a great time too!

Other longer term commitments include: Social Media Management, Event planning, Fundraising, Bookkeeping, Public Relations and Outreach, Video editing, Graphic design for the festival brochure etc.

Volunteer opportunities may last from one day to 6 months depending on the tasks to be done. The task may require that you work from our office, your home or make trips within NYC.

Volunteer shifts are from 10:00am-2:00pm, 1:00pm-5:00pm OR 4:00pm-8:00pm

New York City is the most culturally diverse city in the United States. 67% of the NYC population are immigrants or children of immigrants and a large part of that are Caribbean immigrants. Bankra Caribbean Folk Festival celebrates the vibrant Caribbean cultural here in New York City. It is a day that everyone celebrates their cultural heritage through the presentation of music, dances, ethnic food, fashion, etc.
