Operations Intern - Mark Morris Dance Group

 

Position: Operations Intern

MMDG’s Operations Intern will assist the day-to-day operations of the Dance Center in support of the organization’s many programs. The internship will have a focus on space rentals, office management, and the Wellness Center. Project-based work will vary by term.

With a combination of administrative and hands-on responsibilities, MMDG’s Operations Intern will learn skills that can apply to a career in project management, arts administration, and programming.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

-Support Operations Coordinator in tracking, restocking, and maintaining inventory of office and catering supplies
-Assist with the weekly reconciliation of MMDG’s scheduling and registration software
-Work with Director of Events and Venue Operations and Rental Programs Manager to develop Wellness Center handbook, outlining policies for practitioners, staff and dancers
-Assist with the administration of the Subsidized Rehearsal Space Program, preparing reports and applications for grants and supporting the application and approval process
-Participate in standing team meetings and manage action items for short-term projects

The Mark Morris Dance Group seeks candidates for its Internship Program who are interested in gaining valuable experience in arts administration at a cultural nonprofit organization.

Fall 2019

Term: August 26 – December 20

Mandatory Orientation Date: Monday, August 26 from 1:00pm-2:30pm

INTERNSHIPS FOR THE FALL TERM ARE AVAILABLE IN THESE AREAS OF CONCENTRATION: 

Education (The School, Adult Program, Community Education)
Development (Fundraising)
Operations
Marketing

Interns are an important part of the MMDG community. MMDG makes a commitment to providing project-based, meaningful work with a focus on career development for all interns. Participants will experience a broad overview of the organization through involvement with various special projects and events. Interns receive direct supervision and participate in regular check-ins with their on-site supervisor. Many have gone on to become full-time employees at the Mark Morris Dance Group and enjoyed successful careers in the nonprofit performing arts sector.

-Internships are hosted year-round for Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer terms.
-Applicants must be 18+ and authorized to work in the US.
-The standard internship is 20 hours per week, but shorter or longer commitments will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
-Internship opportunities for high school students are currently provided to our Arts Immersion Alumni and through our partnerships with Exploring the Arts, Exalt Youth, and Cristo Rey High School.

-Stipends are available when programs/schools do not provide them. For qualifying internships, a weekly stipend of $100 is offered per 20 hour per week commitment. Commitments with fewer or more hours may qualify for a corresponding adjustment in the amount of the stipend offered
