HOTR Volunteers making heart shapes with their hands Kira Bucca

Are you a dedicated, passionate dancer who wants to make a difference? Join other volunteer teaching artists as they share their love of dance with children in homeless shelters and community centers. We are currently seeking volunteers to work as assistant teachers at our locations in The Bronx and Queens. Classes are led by an experienced Teaching Artist, and no prior dance or teaching experience is required, as training is provided. Opportunities are available:

Mondays from 5:30 - 6:30 P.M. in The Bronx
Thursdays from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. in Queens
Fridays from 3:45 - 5:45 P.M. in The Bronx

Interested candidates should join us for one or both of the following events to learn more:

Meet the Roses
Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at Raise: 416 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10016
This event is an informal Happy Hour where you can meet current and prospective volunteers, hear more about our experiences and ask questions about how to get involved!

Open Rehearsal

Sunday, January 12 1:30 - 3:30 P.M. at Battery Dance Studio: 380 Broadway, 5th Floor New York, NY 10013
This rehearsal will be a great interactive experience for anyone interested in joining HOTR as a volunteer teaching artist for our Spring season.

About Us:

House of the Roses offers homeless and at-risk children free weekly on-site dance workshops at partner outreach facilities, such as homeless shelters and community centers.  We also provide the children and our teaching artists with performance opportunities at various locations, ending with a huge dance concert celebrating the success of the past year. We are looking for dancers who love to teach, and have a free hour or two every week (weeknight evenings) to visit an outreach facility with a team of other volunteers to work with the kids. Every week, you will see the kids take steps big and small, towards creative freedom and expression. You will also receive monthly training in dance and teaching techniques from our staff of qualified and experienced lead teachers. You will be in the company of other committed, energetic and talented dancers who all want to make a positive impact on children's lives. We hope to meet you soon!
