ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater Free Class Month & Teaching Opportunities

Director, Alden LaPaglia Matt Carr Photography

ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater is a Brooklyn-based contemporary dance company with an eclectic reperatory that includes modern-based concert work, jazz-based pieces for community performances, more classical styling in our annual Nutcracker, and more.

We are currently looking for dancers who are interested in both performing with the company and teaching in our school. To apply, attend our company warm-ups at no-charge in February to get to know the company and sample rep. Warm-ups run 10:30am-11:45am Mondays Feb 3, 10, and 24. Space is limited. Please e-mail info@aldenmovesbk.com with your headshot, resume, and a brief introduction to reserve a spot. At the end of this period, dancers will be chosen for an invited audition for upcoming projects as well as entry into our teaching program.

About Our Dancers: We seek dancers with clean lines, well-versed in ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Pointe for women is a strong plus. Teachers are working dancers, usually with previous teaching experience, with an interest in mentorship and ever-improving their own technique and alignment. We follow a classical syllabus of ballet, modern, and jazz styles for ages 8+, but most students are under age 7 and enrolled in our creative dance classes. Teachers apprentice with Director Alden LaPaglia to familiarize themselves with our hands-on approach to building alignment fundamentals in creative dance classes as well as other the elements that make our classes unique. Apprenticing includes assisting, watching, and taking classes for a set period at no-charge. Full company members will also perform with the company for community performances, showcases including APAP, and in full-evening productions like our annual Nutcracker. All company projects are compensated by stipend. Project pay varies.

Making Movement Dance. Making Dance Move.

ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater is dedicated to reinventing dance in the public eye by making it a more accessible reflection of contemporary culture and erasing the stylistic boundaries that divide the dance world today. As a repertory company, it showcases the work of emerging choreographers who are doing this successfully and collaborates with artists in other mediums to bring the arts to the forefront of public attention.
