Looking for female-identifying contemporary dancers (from all backgrounds) who are interested in participating in a dance project that will be presented during the Dance Festival at MANA Contemporary on May 9. Looking for creative performers, with strong stage presence, who are curious and open to new experiences. 

More about the project itself: 

The performance called "UNICODE", choreographed and directed by Renata Skobo, was selected to be a part of the Festival at MANA Contemporary on May 9. It is a contemporary piece, but it includes traditional Serbian dance moves. The choreography is a mixture of contemporary and a folklore. It was premiered in 2012 in Serbia, then was performed during several festivals in Serbia and in Poland. This time the choreography will be recreated and presented to a NY audience. During the rehearsals we will work with guest traditional dance choreographers who will help us to include traditional movement into the entire piece. The duration of the performance: 12 minutes. Please see the trailer below to understand better the atmosphere of the performance. Performing this piece is meant to bring more opportunities in the future for all involved.

Rehearsal schedule: TBA (must be available May 8 for a tech rehearsal and May 9 - performance day)

Compensation: This event has a festival form. There will be a symbolic performance fee and photo/video materials for the participants.
