African Dance Teaching Artists

Notes in Motion Outreach Dance Theatre is seeking experienced African Dance Teaching Artists for ongoing dance and movement residencies and after-school programs in the NYC Public Schools. These are paid teaching opportunities to inspire young people with dance in underserved schools throughout the five boroughs of NYC.

Qualified candidates should have 2-3 years experience teaching dance in NYC public schools (or similar settings) pre-K, elementary, middle, and/or high school populations. Experience in other dance styles, teaching theater, yoga, martial arts, and/or gymnastics also A PLUS! Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese a plus as well.

To apply, submit detailed TEACHING RESUME, COVER LETTER, and LESSON PLAN to amanda@notesinmotion.org with subject line DANCE TEACHING ARTIST SUBMISSION. 

LESSON PLAN should be an African Dance teaching lesson plan (approx. 45 minute session). Please pick a grade level within the K-8 range, we are looking for something dynamic and active, but also focused. Include learning objective, vocabulary, description of activities, and guiding question(s).
