Teaching Artist Mentorship Program (Paid)

TID Teaching Artist Nora Leads a Creative Movement class Roslyn Biskin

Together in Dance is seeking applicants for its Teaching Artist Mentoring and Professional Development Program.

Together in Dance is a New York City nonprofit organization that provides creative movement and musical theater residency programming to New York City public schools and cultural institutions. Our mission is to provide unparalleled arts programming to students and families that may otherwise have little to no exposure to the arts, and introduce them to the intrinsic values of participation in the arts -- creativity, collaboration, and self expression.

Together in Dance is hiring new Teaching Artists to join our company and participate in paid training, professional development, and mentorship this fall, which will lead to a position with our team when it is safe for in-person residencies, hopefully spring/summer. Participation in all program activities is compensated.

Please refer to our website for a detailed description of TID’s Teaching Artist Mentoring program: www.togetherindance.org/

Please note that all activities are being conducted remotely via Zoom until it is safe to resume in-person activities.

Prospective teaching artists should possess the following:

-Experience in the professional arts world as a dancer, choreographer, singer, musical director, or musical theater performer
-A strong interest in teaching your arts discipline
-A passion for connecting with people, and specifically elementary-aged children, through the arts
-An interest in bringing dance out of studios and introducing it to a broad and diverse audience that often has never danced before
-A dedication to process and on-going reflection and growth in a collaborative setting
-Commitment to an equitable and inclusive community

To apply, please send in a resume and cover letter to togetherindance.search@gmail.com highlighting your relevant experience, interest in the position, and what unique qualities you can bring to our team! We anticipate the positions will be filled by October 30th.

Together in Dance is an equal opportunity employer actively striving to represent individuals from all backgrounds on our staff. We firmly believe that our students should experience the arts from teachers of diverse backgrounds and experiences. As such, we strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups. All applicants will receive equal and fair consideration, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, veteran status, disability status and any other factor prohibited by law. TID can provide candidates with reasonable accommodations, as needed.
