MADC's Collective Thread Open Call Submission

MODArts Dance Collective (MADC) is elated to announce its sixth annual dance festival, Collective Thread, on March 11-13, 2021 7:30 PM via Zoom. The purpose of Collective Thread is to provide a voice and a platform for artistic self-impression to those women/womxn identifying artists of underrepresented ethnic groups within the medium of dance. The goal of Collective Thread is to instill artists with the necessary tools to take on leadership roles in an effort to increase diversity, inclusion, and gender equality in the dance field. 

The 2021 open submission call is November 16 - 11:59 PM EST on January 1, 2021. The artists’ applications will be selected based on the following criteria from a panel of peers in the dance field: 1. The submitted piece and its relevance towards BIPOC. 2. Responses from the submission questions. Artists will be notified by 11:59 PM EST on January 8, 2021. Twelve artists will be chosen to present 5-8 minutes of a dance work on one of the three live stream concerts on March 11-13, 2021. If chosen, artists will sign a letter of agreement to confirm her/their participation in the dance festival by 11:59 PM EST on January 22, 2020. There are no fees to submit. No production fee if chosen. Participating artists will receive an honorarium and exposure through advertising/marketing.
