Image of Project Description Shawn Short

Deadline: Feb 15, 2020 11:59AM - Washington, DC-based contemporary ballet company, Dissonance Dance Theatre, seeks remote dancers for new project DDT Ambassadors. Named, “One of the 11 small-but-mighty dance companies outside of LA and NYC" by Dance Spirit Magazine, DDT - In lieu of traditional season casting - DDT is seeking contemporary ballet artists that are interested in DDT’s vision and processes (techniques, style, purpose) for its remote-work project.

What Does It Look Like?

Calls. Virtual Rehearsals. Interviews.

Selected dancers participate in a series of calls introducing project staff and participants, as well as virtually rehearse with Resident Choreographer Kareem B. Goodwin. Next, dancers are provided with necessary dancewear, a $500 stipend, a Peloton membership for conditioning, career advisement, film project, and mentorship from Founding Director Shawn Short.

DDT AMBASSADOR PROJECT

In the spirit of DDT’s artist development mission, Dissonance Dance Theatre is seeking dancers for its 2020-2021 Ambassador project. The COVID-19 pandemic has halted gatherings in dance spaces, and limited human connectivity – but not creative expression. In lieu of traditional season casting, DDT is seeking contemporary ballet artists that are interested in DDT’s vision and processes (techniques, style, purpose) for its remote-work project.

WORKING REMOTELY

Dancers, like the rest of America, are unsure of how to start back safely. DDT understands your sentiment and agrees. Ambassadors work with DDT’s management and creatives to chronicle realities, perform in film projects, and gain artistic development through mentorship, and self-evaluation. Great for dancers interested in joining DDT in the near future.
