KYL/D’s Inhale on Camera Series

Now Accepting Applications for Performance and Visual Artists

Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers invites movement and visual artists of all genres who have created or are in the process of creating work for the camera or visual art pieces that they are interested in sharing, to submit work for KYL/D’s Inhale on Camera Series to be held on Wednesday, June 16th and Thursday, June 17th.  Applications are due May 7th.

This event will feature dances and artistic visions made for the camera.  Inhale on Camera will take place at CHI Movement Arts Center, home of KYL/D.  The same video projection featuring all of the selected artists will be presented for the audience's enjoyment on a larger than life wall at each of the three screening times for two consecutive evenings.  Audience members will be provided with a link to the digital program providing information about the contributing dance and video artists. Inhale on Camera is a curated high-art experience where audience members can enjoy incredible art, made for the camera, and enjoy original visual artwork, in a safe, socially distanced, real-life environment.  Face coverings will be required for all audience members.

KYL/D’s InHale Performance Series offers a supportive environment that fosters creative exchange of ideas, cultivates community, and provides opportunities for members of the public to experience a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines.

To date, KYL/D has presented over 1000 movement artists from PA and beyond including from DC, NY, VA, MD, MA, CT, IL, NC, and MI. The shows fill to capacity, so with limited spaces available for this event, we expect that reservations will be necessary!

Complete an application here: http://www.kyld.org/inhale/

There is a COVID-19 discounted $10 application fee which directly supports the administration and technical support of this program.  If this fee creates a barrier for you to apply, please contact Inhale Performance Series Curator, Evalina Carbonell: evalina@kyld.org to request a waived fee. We are interested in all categories of artistic films (dance, theatre, music, experimental, etc.)  Artists should submit pieces of 10 minutes or less.  Longer pieces will be considered, but short pieces are prioritized to present a greater number of artists. We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC artists and communities.

“In a city like Philadelphia where even the established companies find
themselves vying for the same audiences, it’s easy for emerging artists to
get overlooked. Fortunately, the quarterly InHale Performance Series,
hosted by Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers at the CHI Movement Arts Center, gives
up-and-coming choreographers a much needed and well deserved chance to
strut their stuff.” ~The Dance Journal
