NYC Performing Artists! Dance Residency & LIVE-Performance Opportunity!

We are DanceAction, a contemporary dance company based in New York, creating performing artworks in collaboration. We have been invited to develop new work at a Virtual Performance Residency at the Center at West Park in NYC, from April 5th to April 18th. We will be working IN-Person on-site at the Sanctuary Space at the Center at West Park, every day until the performance on April 16th. The work will be performed live and live-streamed to a platform such as Twitch or Zoom.

I’m URGENTLY looking for 3 Latin American Immigrant Performers (movers/dancers/actors) residing in the US to join this project. Applicants should have experience with contemporary dance, movement improvisation, physical theater, theater, and be able to work at a quick pace. Because of the nature of this residency, learning material quickly and be ready to perform it immediately is extremely necessary. Virtual Rehearsals will start next week on Zoom, once or twice a week, followed by the in-person residency in April, from 5 to 10 PM every day, with some occasional rehearsals between 10 AM and 5 PM from Monday to Saturday the weeks of the residency. Artists will receive a stipend for participating in the residency and the performance.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, please send via email at DAwelcometoimagination@gmail.com, your resume, Headshot (or a picture of yourself), samples of your performance work (videos/website/links), and a few words describing yourself and why you would like to be part of this project. There will be no auditions. After viewing work samples, selected applicants will be contacted for a virtual interview on Zoom. If you have conflicts with the schedule but would like to participate, send me a message and we will discuss if it's possible to make accommodations.

COVID-19 Safety: During the in-person residency, we will follow a strict protocol to ensure the safety of all residency participants and staff members at the Center at West Park. For more information about the Safety Protocol please message me.

About the Work: "Welcome to Imagi*Nation is a multimedia immersive performance inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s film Modern Times where the audience will participate in a virtual reality interactive game, facing multiple challenges. Searching for conflict resolution, the audience will experience the motivations and consequences of migration."
