DA is looking for Dancers/Performers (movers/dancers/actors) for Fall Residency in NYC

NYC Performing Artists! Dance Residency & LIVE-Performance Opportunity! Artists of color and/or LGBTQ+ are encouraged to apply!

We are DanceAction, a contemporary dance company based in New York, creating performing artworks in collaboration. We have been invited to continue developing our work “Welcome to Imagi*Nation: Part 2” at a Fall Performance Residency at the Center at West Park in NYC, from September 27 to October 21, 2021. We will be working IN-Person on-site at the Center at West Park, every day until the performance on October 21, 2021. The work will be performed live at the Center’s Sanctuary Space.

I’m URGENTLY looking for 1 Dancer/Performer (movers/dancers/actors) residing in the US to join this project. Applicants should have experience with contemporary dance, movement improvisation, physical theater, theater, and be able to work at a quick pace. Because of the nature of this residency, learning material quickly and being ready to perform it immediately is extremely necessary. Artists of color & LGBTQ+ are encouraged to apply!

In-person Rehearsals will start on Monday, September 27, and will follow the schedule below:

Tue 28-Sep from 6 to 10 PM @ Location TBA

Sun 10/10 from 3 to 5 PM @ The Center

Mon 10/11 from 9 to 11 AM @ The Center 

Mon 10/11 from 6 to 10 PM @ The Center’s Chapel

Tue 10/12 from 6 to 10 pm @ Location TBA

Monday from 10/18 6 Pm to 10 Pm TECH Rehearsal @ The Center

Tuesday 10/19 from 6 Pm to 10 Pm DRESS Rehearsal @ The Center

Wednesday 10/20 6 Pm to 10 Pm @ The Center

Thursday 10/21 from 6 Pm to 10 Pm Performance at 7:30 PM @ The Center

Artists will receive compensation for participating in the residency and the performance. 

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, please send via email at DAwelcometoimagination@gmail.com, your resume, Headshot (or a picture of yourself), samples of your performance work (videos/website/links), and a few words describing yourself and why you would like to be part of this project. After viewing work samples, selected applicants will be contacted for a virtual interview on Zoom and an in-person rehearsal before the start of the residency, between 9/20 and 9/23. If you have conflicts with the schedule but would like to participate, send me a message and we will discuss if it's possible to make accommodations. 

COVID-19 Safety: During the in-person residency, we will follow a strict protocol to ensure the safety of all residency participants and staff members at the Center at West Park. About the Work: “Welcome to Imagi*Nation: Part 2 is a multimedia interactive performance that begins at the conflict of two fictional neighboring nations. While the audience participates in a socially distant interactive experience, the performers will enter into a series of challenges that will result in multiple possible outcomes. As the characters are searching for a way to survive, the audience will experience the motivations and consequences of migration.”
