WR Arts - Afternoon Dance Teaching Artists Needed (9/20/21 - 6/17/2022)

WR Arts is currently seeking warm-hearted, passionate Teaching Artists with experience instructing & supervising children, specializing in dance and movement. 

WR Arts provides quality performing arts enrichment education in a safe and supportive environment throughout the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area in afternoon programs including In School & Studio settings. WR Arts strives to support Northern Brooklyn’s diverse communities, bridging cultures through the performing arts. This is an exciting opportunity to assist in supporting this mission, by sharing your culture through story, song, dance, and experiences. 

Note that as of September 27th, 2021 WR Arts requires that all teaching artists be compliant with its COVID-19 vaccination policy, which requires all in-school and on-site staff to be fully vaccinated, with proof of vaccination. 

WR Arts is looking for engaging instructors that can create & instruct dance programming that excites our students. Ideal applicants will have a background in Dance (Ballet/ Tap/ Jazz/ Modern/ West African/ Hip Hop/ Irish Dance/ Bollywood/ etc.) & prior teaching experience (familiarity with ages 4 -10 is a plus). Teaching Artists will collaborate with the WR Arts team to customize lesson plans and arts programming to suit a diverse range of abilities and ages. Extensive dance training is not required however, understanding of dance class structure, classroom management skills, and understanding of dance modality to be instructed is required. We are looking for self-motivated, committed educators and artists who have the ability to adapt to a studio classroom setting. Recent college graduates and seniors are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be available weekdays between 2-6PM starting September 20th, 2021 through June 17th, 2022 with the option to extend agreements through future sessions.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Compensation: $40.00 - $100.00 per day; To be discussed & determined by length of the instructional day

Our teaching artists are Independent Contractors of WR Arts and are not considered employees. Teaching Artists are paid through 1099 and required to pay their own self-employment taxes. Additionally, contractors are ineligible for unemployment, health, or transportation benefits through WR Arts.
