Dancewave seeks Teaching Artist for Community Residencies

 
We're Hiring Teaching Artists!

Dancewave Seeks Teaching Artists for the 2021-2022 school year for in-person residences in public schools, community center classes, and at the Dancewave Center in Brooklyn. We are currently seeking TA’s with experience working with Seniors, students with differing abilities and special needs, and English language learners, as well as East and West African, African Diaspora dance forms, Latin dances, and Hip Hop dance styles. All dance disciplines are encouraged to apply! 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Teaching Artists needed for K-12 grades and senior centers. The right candidate will have experience or the desire to work in a public school or community center setting, be highly organized, and have strong class management skills. This is an exciting and rewarding position for educators who are interested in using dance as a vehicle for transformation, building inclusive, responsive, and developmentally appropriate lessons. Dancewave’s priority is to actively uphold anti-oppressive and culturally responsive standards in teaching student-centered approaches to build community in the classroom.

Locations: Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan*

*Travel stipend may be available for long-distance assignments

 

SALARY: $60-$75 (based on funding source and experience)

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Ideally 2-3 years of teaching experience, public school experience preferred. 

Background in dance, performing arts, communications, or equivalent 

Availability for in school and after school hours (8:00am-6:00pm)

Required Training: All current and new Teaching Artists are required to review the Spring Orientation held on January 20, 2022. A recording from the training will be provided upon hiring.
