Public Relations Internship with Jacob's Pillow

Two Public Relations Interns work closely with the Public Relations & Communications Coordinator to assist with all aspects of securing, tracking, and archiving media coverage of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival while managing the editing and production of weekly printed performance programs.

Press responsibilities include helping to manage media relations and materials for one of two theaters; maintaining clippings, archives, and tracking; writing press releases; and crafting story pitching strategies. Editorial responsibilities include collecting program information from dance companies, editing and trafficking copy and layouts for approval, proofreading, and interfacing with the Graphics team and print companies. As part of the Marketing team, the Public Relations Interns also develop strategy and execute targeted promotions, give public tours, work in the Box Office at will call, participate in community outreach efforts, assist with on- and off-site marketing events, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Candidates should be strong writers with an eye for detail, organized, effective time managers, and have excellent interpersonal skills and marketing instincts. Knowledge of the dance field is preferred; Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications and Marketing majors are encouraged to apply. Candidates must include two writing samples/excerpts with their application (maximum two pages each). Applications submitted without writing samples are considered incomplete. Final round applicants will be asked to complete an original writing assignment.
