Borne Dance Company will be hosting its sixth annual eating disorder awareness show, Out of Darkness. In honor of the National Eating Disorder Association’s (NEDA) on Friday, March 4th and Saturday, March 5th at 8:00 pm. This is a benefit show devoted to the education and prevention of eating disorders, and the majority of proceeds made at the box office will be donated back to NEDA. We are looking for artists of all backgrounds to donate their work to this cause. Choreographers, comedians, musicians, visual artists, actors, spoken word artists, photographers, improv groups, and artists of all kinds are welcome to apply. All pieces must be 3-5 minutes long and must fit in within the themes of recovery, body positivity, and positive mental well-being. Please apply by emailing BorneDancenyc@gmail.com with a description of your work, how your work fits into the theme, which day you would like to perform, and a video of the piece you are applying with (rehearsal footage is welcome). Please specify how many performers will be in your work and the length of the piece, due to Covid's limitations of space, we are looking for more solos, duets, and small groups. Unfortunately, because the show is a benefit show we will not be able to pay artists for their time and work, but we will provide a video of your piece and we hope you will join us in the celebration of healthy bodies and minds in the spirit of recovery! Please note that applications must be appropriate for all ages. Applications must be in by February 11 and will be notified of acceptance by February 13. Due to Covid restrictions, all performers and audience members are required to be vaccinated and wear masks at all times. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
