The University of Utah School of Dance is excited to announce the formation of the University of Utah Ballet Choreographic Institute.

The Choreographic Institute will bring four professional choreographers, or Choreographic Fellows, to the University of Utah campus in the summer of 2022 where they will have a chance to choreograph innovative works in pointe shoes.

The four Choreographic Fellows will each be awarded a 2-week residency, which includes travel, room, board, rehearsal space, time, and 8 to 10 previously-auditioned, advanced-level dancers to experiment and create a new work. It also includes a stipend of $2,000. Each 2-week residency will culminate in an informal showing which includes a professional recording of their work. Residencies will take place either June 20th – July 2nd or July 4th – July 15th.

The Choreographic Institute is also seeking advanced-level ballet dancers for this unique opportunity from June 20th to July 15th. Company Dancers will receive room and board, free morning ballet technique class, and an honorarium of $800.

All application materials must be submitted via the online application forms no later than Jan. 31, 2022 by 11:59pm. Late applications will not be considered, and applicants will be notified by Feb. 21, 2022.
