SMUSH Gallery is now accepting applications to our Summer 2022 Arts Residencies! This program offers artists of all disciplines space for studio work, rehearsal, performance, and exhibition in our beautiful storefront art space. Artists receive up to 80 hours/week throughout July and August, plus use of gallery equipment and publicity support. Artists of color, LGBTQ+ artists, artists with disabilities, and artists living along and at the intersections of other lines of oppression are especially encouraged to apply. Residencies are available the weeks of July 4, July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1, August 8, August 15, and August 22. Artists may apply for up to three weeks of residency time.

Applications are due April 1st. Applicants will be notified by April 18. Dates for confirmation and return of contracts will be communicated on acceptance.

Residency fees are $560 per week. Artists keep 100% of the proceeds from exhibitions, workshops, and performances. Scholarships (full & partial) are available and artists are invited to include a statement of need.

All residency activities must adhere to good sense as well as federal, state, and local guidelines regarding COVID-19. Within these guidelines, artists are free to set their own parameters for their events. We recommend requiring proof of vaccination and masks while in the gallery but do not require artists to do so for their residency events.

SMUSH Gallery is located at 340 Summit Ave in Jersey City, NJ, a ten minute walk from the Journal Square PATH station.
