AXIS is thrilled to share that our 2022 Choreo-Lab ("Lab") will take place IN-PERSON June 13-24, 2022!  This year's Lab is being offered in two locations  - NYC and the Bay Area, California, in partnership with The Joyce Theater (with full COVID precautions). 2 choreographers will be chosen for each Lab (4 choreographers total).

Please note that in order to be considered for the Choreo-Lab, you must be available for the entire duration and identify as a disabled choreographer who is based in the United States. Application Deadline: April 15th, 2022.

The goal of the Lab is to develop, refine and advance the artistic skills of disabled choreographers. The Lab offers an in-person, inclusive environment where established, disabled artists mentor their peers to challenge boundaries and create perception changing art.

Nadia Adame, AXIS Artistic Director will serve as Mentor for the Berkeley, CA Lab. Jerron Herman, award-winning dancer, writer, choreographer will serve as Mentor for the NYC Lab. A selection panel made up of the Mentors and a representative from The Joyce will curate participation in the Choreo-Lab based on applicants’ artistic goals, interest in advancing their choreographic practice through the Lab, and potential opportunities to develop and present work moving forward.
