ZOE | JUNIPER SEEKING DANCERS FOR THE OTHER SHORE 2022-2023

The Other Shore (TOS) is a multidisciplinary project of 360 videos, performance, installation that combine dance, art objects, sound and video created in collaboration with the artists. TOS shifts eurocentric relationships between audience and performer by changing the physical orientation of viewing. TOS expands the possibilities of how we relate to our perceptions, power, and ritual through distinct performance “spaces” that exist simultaneously. Rehearsals will happen in Seattle and LA.

 

WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND SEEKING PERFORMERS / DANCERS WITH THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES AND ARE:

- Playful, Responsible, Team Players, Open-minded, Professional

– Has at least three years of experience in the professional dance/performance scene; 

– Is a highly skilled dancer/mover interested in both research and precision;

– Has strong, dynamic, and creative improvisation, movement invention and performance skills

– Has a strong curiosity for process, collaboration and dialogue;

– Is an excellent communicator; 

– Craves experimentation, self-examination, risk, vulnerability and is committed to creative exploration; 

- Comfortable with using your family history and lineage as potential source material for the work;

- Comfortable with speaking and dancing simultaneously. And within the creative process, is inspired by other mediums such as drawing, film, text, sound and photography.

– Interest in exploring the work's themes which focus on family lineage, personal and spiritual transformations, ritual practices, changing of perceptions and investigating one's own identity.

TO APPLY

In a two-step process, applicants will first complete a virtual submission, which will be followed by an in-person audition. To be considered, please submit the following via the Google Form:

Your CV and/or Resume

Headshot/photo of yourself. Does not need to be professionally shot, we just want to see you. 

ONE 3-minute documentation video from a previous performance. Please frame the relevant 3 minutes out of any documentation. If the section is part of a larger video, please note the time code. Video can be either in solo or with a group, if in a group please give us a clear description of yourself. 

ONE 3-minute improvisation video which shows a variety of physical qualities, dynamic technical range, and emotional states. It is important for us that your face is seen in the video. This does not need to be shot in a dance studio, but it is important for us that your full body is in the frame.  Please no edited compilations.

Might not be needed for the full time. 

 

COMPENSATION

120-125 hours for rehearsal/performance for fall 2022 shows. (Number of hours subject to change, will NOT go below 120 hours, potentially more than 120 hours.)

Estimate 15-25 hours for 2023 dates, potential for more hours. 

$20/ HOUR

40 hours rehearsals 

40 hours of tech/building residency 

40 performances
