WR Arts- Afternoon Dance Teaching Artists Needed (9/19/2022 - 6/17/2022)

WR Arts is currently seeking warm-hearted, passionate Teaching Artists with experience instructing & supervising children, specializing in dance and creative movement. 

WR Arts strives to support Northern Brooklyn’s diverse communities, bridging cultures through the performing arts. WR Arts provides quality performing arts enrichment education in a safe and supportive environment throughout the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area. Our afterschool programs include public and private school partnerships and programming at our homebase studio. 

We’re looking for self-motivated and committed instructors to create & instruct dance programming that excites our students. Ideal applicants will have a background and proficiency in dance styles such as ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip-hop. Additional experience in West-African dance techniques, theater arts: singing & acting, and fine arts/crafting is a plus. Classroom management skills required; we’re looking for individuals with the ability to adapt lesson plans to dance studio or school classroom settings. Recent college graduates and seniors are encouraged to apply. Working artists welcome!

Requirements: 

- Ability to customize lesson plans to suit a diverse range of abilities and ages. 

- 1 year prior teaching experience in school and studio settings. 

- Familiarity with ages 4-8

- Excellent classroom management skills 

- Understanding of dance modality to be instructed is required. 

- Organized, responsive and punctual. 

- Bilingual (spanish/english) is a plus

- Must be available weekdays between 2-6PM 

- All WR Arts Teaching Artists must be fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination. 

Our Fall/Winter session begins September 19th, 2022 through December 23rd, 2022 with the option to extend agreements through future sessions.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Compensation: $50.00 - $100.00 per day; To be discussed & determined by length of the instructional day

Our teaching artists are Independent Contractors of WR Arts and are not considered employees. Teaching Artists are paid through 1099 and required to pay their own self-employment taxes. Additionally, contractors are ineligible for unemployment, health, or transportation benefits through WR Arts
