GALLIM Moving Artist Parent Residency

The 2023 GALLIM Moving Artist Residencies provide artists time and space to explore their creative ideas and invite them to identify what would most nurture their growth in creation, research, training, and development. The Moving Artist Residencies are process based residencies, there are no requirements to produce or showcase a finished work. The residencies are open to, but not limited to, choreographers, dance filmmakers, educators, and performers. This year’s residencies will take place at a satellite studio space in NYC of similar dimensions to the Brooklyn GALLIM studios and will be equipped with a sprung marley floor. We are pleased to add a new residency for moving artists that are parents.

The 2023 GALLIM Moving Artist Parent Residency is designed to holistically support movement artists who are parents by offering fully-funded, safe and private space, an artist stipend, an optional mentorship session, and an additional childcare stipend. We hope the residency will create space for focused research and exploration.

GALLIM is a mother-led organization, and as such, we recognize the challenges inherent in raising and nurturing a family while maintaining an artistic practice. We are committed to serving and supporting this community of artists. We welcome a conversation with you about how to best fit this residency to your process and needs.

Applications are open through Friday, November 4th.

THERE WILL BE A VIRTUAL INFORMATION SESSION ON ZOOM FOR BOTH RESIDENCIES ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 12TH AT 7PM.
