Dance for PD® Programs Coordinator

 

SUMMARY:

MMDG seeks a Dance for PD® Programs Coordinator with excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, to join the Dance for PD team within the collaborative Education and Community Engagement Department. Reporting to the Dance for PD Programs and Engagement Manager, the Dance for PD Programs Coordinator is responsible for implementation of local in-person and global digital programming while supporting the design of program expansion and special initiatives at the vibrant, bustling Dance Center and between community-based partners. With support from the Dance for PD Programs and Engagement Manager, the Dance for PD Programs Coordinator manages scheduling and staffing for ongoing activities, oversees class registration, and acts as a liaison between faculty and staff, community participants, hosting partners, and volunteers. This is a full-time non-exempt position.

The Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) believes that universal access to the arts is essential. Dance for PD® is a program of MMDG that offers dance classes for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their families online and in person within New York City, and through our network of partners and associates, in more than 300 other communities in 25 countries. In our classes, participants are empowered to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating and creative. All of our flagship classes in New York City are offered free of charge with live musical accompaniment, reflecting the spirit of MMDG in its celebration of music and dance.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Dance for PD program classes, workshops, and events

Maintain knowledge base and understanding of all flagship program operations, opportunities, and resources
Coordinate onsite and online programming in collaboration with Programs and Engagement Manager, MMDG Operations team, and/or partner contacts
Oversee administration and promotion of regular in-person and online programming, including staffing, digital bulletins, and website updates
Maintain Dance for PD programs calendar and ensure accurate and timely updates for public viewing and internal reporting
Manage set-up and clearing of studio resources, such as chairs and songbooks
Track attendance and collect waivers (when applicable) for all participants, providing reports as needed
Manage, communicate, and enforce registration policy
Offer customer service, including patient and prompt responses to phone/email inquiries
Supervise and delegate tasks to volunteers in collaboration with Programs Assistant
Liaise between program staff, teachers, assistants, volunteers, and participants
Assist with local Training Workshops (3-4 per year)
Process and ship merchandise orders
Represent MMDG/Dance for PD at public events
Coordinate photo and video documentation with Marketing as needed
Attend team and inter-departmental staff meetings as needed

Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures utilizing the framework of MMDG core values

REQUIRED TRAINING:

First Aid Certification + refresher courses offered annually
CPR/AED Certification + refresher courses offered annually 
FDNY Certificate of Fitness F03 (Place of assembly emergency personnel) + recertification (required every 3 years)
MMDG COVID-19 Safety Plan and Dance Center Health and Safety policies
Anti-Harassment and Bystander / De-escalation
Dance for PD Introductory Training Workshop


IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Experience working with older adults, particularly those with movement disorders or mobility concerns
An interest in the arts and health field
Minimum of one year of customer service and administrative experience
Commitment to reliability and possession of exceptional organizational skills
Ability to learn quickly and manage and/or improve operational systems
Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work accordingly
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Dedication to contributing as a congenial and collaborative team player with a sense of humor and humility
Ability to be a resourceful, versatile, proactive problem-solver
Comfort and fluency with basic office and web-based software and smartphone apps, such as Salesforce, GSuite, Microsoft Office Suite, MindBody, and WordPress
Fluency in language(s) in addition to English a plus


SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Sunday-Thursday approximately 11 AM-7 PM; a willingness to flex one’s schedule to include additional weekend and/or evening hours depending on staffing needs.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Annual Salary: $41,600
