This year's live WestFest Dance Festival will present the works of emerging and established movement artists through two distinct programs: Top Floor and All Over Westbeth.

WestFest: Top Floor presents two programs of visionary artists in a traditional theater setting at the Martha Graham Studio Theater located on the 12th Floor of the Westbeth Artists' Residence. Each artist will have the opportunity to show a new work or revision of a recent piece (8 minute max) in two nights of shared performance. 

WestFest: All Over Westbeth is a site-specific program showing a variety of unconventional and unique approaches to dance and space within the historic Westbeth Artists' Residence buildings. Each artist will be assigned a unique space in and around the Westbeth building in which they will have the opportunity to rehearse and build a dance. We ask that artists create a  4-5 minute piece that can be performed multiple times for groups of audiences touring the sites.

SELECTED ARTISTS FOR BOTH TOP FLOOR & ALL OVER WILL RECEIVE:

-The opportunity to show new or revised work in a theater or site-specific setting. 

-FREE production costs

-Publicity and digital marketing materials for the event

-Performance video

 

2023 REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE: 

TOP FLOOR: 

Tech Rehearsal: Tues & Wed April 25 & 26; 20 min slot assigned between 7:30-10:30 PM

Performances: Thurs-Sun, April 27-30, 8:00 PM

 

ALL OVER WESTBETH:

Kickoff Meeting and Rehearsal #1: Saturday, February 4, 1-4 PM

Rehearsal #2: Saturday, March 4, 1-4 PM

Rehearsal #3: Saturday, April 1, 1-4 PM

Tech Rehearsal: Saturday, April 22, 1-5 PM

Performance: April 29 & 30, 1-4 PM

 

SUBMISSION SCHEDULE:

Early Bird Special Application Fee: $30 | Submit by December 19th at 11:59PM.

Regular Application Fee: $40 - Submit by January 9th at 11:59PM.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance via email no later than Monday, January 23rd.

 

PLEASE NOTE: If selected, the festival will be allowed to use the info and materials submitted in the artist’s application for promotional purposes.

All artists participating in the festival must be fully vaccinated by tech week.
