Development Manager

 

POSITION TITLE: Development Manager
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Chief Development Officer
POSITION SUMMARY:
New York Live Arts, home of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and one of the country’s
premier organizations devoted to contemporary dance and movement-based art, is seeking a
Development Manager to execute the day-to-day fundraising operations of the organization,
with a focus in individual giving programs and special events such as the annual gala and
ongoing donor cultivation events. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, and with the
support of part-time Development Assistant, the Manager plays an important role in New York
Live Arts’ efforts to strengthen and maintain its support from individual giving to sustain the
operations of New York Live Arts.
Annual Fund
? Steward existing donor program participants throughout the year including an annual
gift renewal process; track and seek pledge fulfillment
? Prepare and send regular donor solicitation materials for new donors utilizing prospect
research and ticket buyer lists
? Assume responsibility for carrying out a bi-annual donation appeal using both mailed
and emailed materials
? Work with our donor platform Classy, to create and update donation forms, staying
current on donation methods such as recurring giving, matching gifts, paypal, crypto,
venmo, and other donation options
? Coordinate the use of donor advised funds and donation portals to ensure the timely
receipt of donation via third party charitable giving services such as Fidelity, Benevity,
etc....
? Ensure accurate record keeping of all individual donations via entry in the organization’s
CRM Patron Manager; manage the timely distribution of donor acknowledgements and
tracking
? Generate donor reports using the organization’s CRM PatronManager; update donor lists
for publication on website, publicity materials, and donor wall

Prospect research
? Utilize our research platform iWave to create donor prospect lists and profiles
? On a monthly basis, provide the Chief Development Officer with a report on new donor
prospects pulled from ticket buyer lists; create and update moves lists for new donor
prospects
? Work with the Chief Development Officer to prepare communications and solicitation
materials for new prospects on a regular basis
? Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and CEO to include new prospects in
major donor and board prospect cultivation opportunities

Qualifications
3+ years previous experience in fundraising; familiarity with fundraising databases, preferably
an integrated ticketing/donor management system (e.g. Tessitura, Salesforce, Patron Manager);
excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills; comfort working with board and high
level donors; poise, tolerance for diverse viewpoints, and a sensitivity to the artistic process:
attention to detail. This position requires occasional weekend and evening hours in connection
with special events and performances. The ideal candidate will feel at home in a fast-paced
environment, working with electronic data and reporting, staying up to date on fundraising
technology and fundraising platforms, and will be very comfortable in social situations.
Salary: 65k

15 days paid vacation, 11 sick days, 4 personal days.
