[Take the Survey!] #Shrinkage - A Study of Black Hair in Dance

The title of our organization and research study are on a beige background, pointing at a Black person with a large Black afro. Black Dance Change Makers

We are excited to announce our new research study, Shrinkage, which aims to better understand Black dancers' experiences and their hair within dance. Our research and the data we collect will aid us in creating solutions and resources to share with dance schools, companies, and our community.

We believe this study is necessary as there is a lack of analysis on the topic, as the experiences of Black dancers are often overlooked. Considering how traditional—and often, rigid —the world of ballet and dance, in general, can be, Black dancers' experiences deserve to be examined.

The research will help us create policies and resources to improve how dance and the dance institution interact with Black hair.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be starting the survey phase of Shrinkage and hope that you will join us as a participant and share it with your community.

We need your help to reach as many Black dancers as possible to ensure the strength and accuracy of our research!

This survey on average takes 20 minutes to complete.
