Production Manager

The Wooster Group, an experimental theater company, develops and performs work at The Performing Garage at 33 Wooster Street in Manhattan and tours nationally and internationally. We are currently looking for a production manager to support the Group’s work.


The production manager will work closely with the artistic leaders, producer, and general manager to determine the priorities, strategies, and implementation for all production aspects of the theater’s activities. The production manager will lead the Group’s technical staff, including a technical director, video, lighting, sound artists, and facility manager.

Primary responsibilities include overseeing technical aspects (set, rigging, sound, video, lighting) of new and repertory productions, production planning and execution, technical documentation, managing design and technical teams, and setting technical schedules. The PM will also be instrumental in preparing and managing national and international tours together with the producer and general manager, including organizing freight transportation and overseeing the realization of the productions in other spaces.

Applicants must have at least five years of experience working as a production manager in professional live performance and touring. Fluency in computer-aided drafting is a plus. This is a hands-on role and will include travel.

This is a full time position, and salary commensurates with experience, starting at a minimum of $60,000 per year, and includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, holidays, and paid time off.
