Children's Ballet Teacher

 

Discovery Programs, an early childhood, dance, gymnastics and recreation program on the Upper West Side is seeking a Tuesday children’s ballet dance teacher starting January 9th. The hours are Tuesdays 11:15-12:00 and 3:10-6:00, pending class enrollment. Other hours may also be available.

Qualifications:

Ballet teaching experience, particularly with children ages two through twelve.
Available from January through mid-June. Summer and next school year opportunities also available.
The candidate will be energetic, positive, and interactive. They must use positive teaching methods and work collaboratively with administrative staff.

Specific Responsibilities:

Teach recreational ballet classes with an emphasis on proper technique, creative movement, and musicality.  
Stage and choregraph age-appropriate dances for the semester-end dance recital/concert.  
Fill out student evaluations one to two times yearly.
Record student attendance for each class. 
Attend all staff meetings and trainings, including those that may not fall within regular teaching hours.
Communicate with Director regarding any concerns, children’s behavioral issues and class structure.
