JOB DESCRIPTION: Dancewave seeks Teaching Artists focusing on African, Latin, Hip Hop, Indian Classical Styles, Bollywood, and Fusion styles for grades K-12. (Experience working with Students with Disabilities is a plus). The right candidate will be experienced teaching in a public school setting, highly organized, and have strong classroom management skills. This is an exciting and rewarding position for a dancer who wants to make a direct impact in local communities and continue growing their teaching practice and skills.

DANCEWAVE provides access to a community dance experience that encourages individuality and whole-person development throughout New York City and beyond. Through innovative programming, we use dance as an expressive vehicle for transformation. Dancewave’s Culture Model creates an inclusive environment for all ages, abilities, sexual orientations, and racial and socio-economic backgrounds.

ABOUT DANCEWAVE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS: Dancewave brings high-quality arts education residencies based on NYC standards and holistic practices. Through the Dancewave Community Programs model, we offer New York City schools and community centers in all five boroughs the opportunity to craft an arts-in-education program customized to meet the specific needs of their curriculum and students’ abilities.

Our in-school residencies encompass a variety of dance genres and are offered both within school hours and/or during after-school programs. Our programs are available year-round and can last anywhere from a two-day workshop/master class to a year-long residency. Visit dancewave.org/residency-program/ for more information.

COMPENSATION: $65- $90 based on class length

TIMELINE: Our application process is on a rolling basis. We are currently considering Teaching Artists applicants to work in our Spring residency programs (February-June 2024). To be considered for the Spring, please submit your application by December 20, 2023.
