Nimbus Dance 2024-25 Company Audition

Nimbus Dance seeks Dancers for Company and Nimbus2 Positions for 2024-2025 Season.

Dancers should have professional experience, be highly proficient in modern and contemporary ballet technique, and have strong partnering skills. Nimbus Dance looks for dynamic movers whose work shows curiosity, courageousness, dedication, and expression. Nimbus Dancers are adventurous collaborators, responsible group members, interested in building community impact through the arts, and are committed to working at a high technical level. Repertory includes works by Artistic Director Samuel Pott, and a range of guest choreographers including: Dawn Marie Bazemore, Roger C. Jeffrey, Pedro Ruiz, Darshan Singh Bhuller, Yoshito Sakuraba, Sofia Nappi, and others. 2024-25 Season includes Fall and Spring Jersey City Seasons at the Nimbus Arts Center, touring to the Southwest and throughout the Northeast, Jersey City Nutcracker, and a major collaboration with the New Jersey Symphony at NJPAC.

Nimbus Dance:

Nimbus Dance company contracts consists of a minimum 30 weeks of work, including rehearsal and performance periods, touring, and teaching. The contracted period runs September 9, 2024 to May 11, 2025, with possible extension for Summer 2025.

Nimbus Company Salary: $500 - $550 / weekly base for 19 hours/rehearsal week + performances. Company class provided.

Medical insurance: employees may enroll in Nimbus’ contributory group plan, covering 50% of monthly premiums.

Nimbus2:

Nimbus2 contract consists of 24 weeks and runs September 30 to May 3. 

Nimbus2 Salary: $18-$19/hourly rehearsal fee; $65-$75 performance fee. Company class provided.

Nimbus and Nimbus2 dancers receive opportunities for paid work as teachers, choreographers, administrators and more, further engaging with and extending Nimbus’ mission.

Nimbus strongly encourages dancers of diverse backgrounds and gender expressions to audition.

About Nimbus:

Nimbus Dance is an award-winning contemporary dance company at the forefront of excellence in the arts, civic engagement, and equitable impact, interweaving Company, School, and Presentations. Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Samuel Pott and based in Jersey City, Nimbus performs on tour nationally and throughout the greater New Jersey/New York region, impacting 16,000 people annually. The company premieres new work on an annual basis by Samuel Pott and by diverse commissioned choreographers, and maintains an active partnership with the New Jersey Symphony, and many other collaborating artists, composers, and organizations. Consisting of 6 young dance professionals, Nimbus2 performs repertory for young and adult audiences, expanding the reach of dance to populations across the tri-state area. Developing a new generation of Nimbus artists within Nimbus' aesthetic, repertory, and approach, Nimbus2 provides a rigorous and inspiring environment for dancers to grow. Nimbus2 season includes performances including their own repertory, performances with Nimbus Dance, including Jersey City Nutcracker, and state-wide community engagement.
