Audition for Kyle Marshall Choreography: KMC seeks 1-3 BIPOC Performers

Dancers in various poses, various levels, wearing orange tops, inside a dance studio

Kyle Marshall Choreography will be holding in-person auditions Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19 3:30-6 p.m. at The Floor (310 ATLANTIC AVE Brooklyn). We are seeking 1-3 BIPOC performers interested in embodying both existing and new repertory. An openness to touring, creative collaboration and physical rigor is required. Comfort in improvisation, momentum-based movement, rhythm and partnering is a plus. We are seeking at least two people who self-identify as female/femme. Studio space will be open at 3:00p each day for individual warm up.

KMC is a Black-led, predominantly BIPOC and Queer dance company that sees the dancing body as a container of history, igniter of social reform and a site of celebration. We maintain an ensemble of performers, sound and visual collaborators and administrators building dances rooted in the expansive Black American and Diasporic experience with an emphasis on experimentation and cutting edge artistry. Our work in the studio, stage and in the community aims to deepen our knowledge of who we are as individuals, how we develop relationships and ultimately societies.

Availability for both audition days is encouraged as some individuals will be asked to return for day two. However, folks who can only attend one day should still apply.

To RSVP, please submit a headshot, resume, email introduction and a dance reel/performance video to KMC’s company manager, Madalyn Rupprecht at kmchoreostaff@gmail.com by Monday, July 15. Upon confirmation, KMC’s 24/25 schedule will be shared with each candidate. Please reach out with any questions.
