SEEKING QUEER DANCERS FOR DANCE FILM

Queer artist/filmmaker seeking LGBTQIA dancer for a short improvisational dance film to be filmed in upstate NY on a queer farm.

Seeking dancers who have been trained in ballet, modern, hip hop, or self-taught queer movers who love to dance and improvise.

This is a body positive project that is both classical and improvisational and aims to incorporate the unique talents of each individual artist.

The short dance film will be 5-7 minutes and primarily improvised on location with prompts. This short dance piece is a prelude to a larger dance film the director is working on that was supported by the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

If you are interested in collaborating, please send an email to streetballetfilm@gmail.com with your headshot, resume, and an email telling us about your experience in dance by October 1st.

Upon receipt of your email a google drive will be provided for you to upload two video submissions of your dance work.

We suggest one video of your classical work either a performance or a rehearsal and video two a video on your phone of you moving to a song that you enjoy, any song!

The shoot will be October 10th in, upstate NY. Transportation, housing, food, and a $100 stipend will be provided. The dancer will travel on Oct 9th upstate.

This micro ballet film series was inspired by “From and Island Summer” by Karole Armitage and Charles Atlas 1984.
