Choir/Vocal Teaching Artist

 

Location: The Bronx & Brooklyn 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Choir/Vocal Teaching Artist to join our arts education team. The ideal candidate will have experience in choral music or vocal instruction and a passion for working with elementary-age students. The role involves creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering students’ vocal growth, and preparing them for a culminating performance at the end of the academic year.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to design and deliver vocal-based arts programming for elementary students.
• Teach vocal techniques, harmonization, and choral repertoire suitable for young learners.
• Create lesson plans that align with both educational standards and the artistic goals of the program.
• Prepare students for a culminating choral performance, ensuring they develop both technical vocal skills and stage confidence.
• Promote an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and creative expression.
• Ensure that all activities are conducted safely and respectfully, adhering to organizational policies.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching vocal music or choir in a school or community setting.
• Expertise in choral music, vocal pedagogy, or a related discipline.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to connect with elementary-age students.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Must pass a background check or already be fingerprinted with the Department of Education (NYC DOE).

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience working in arts education programs with a focus on choral or vocal instruction.
• Bilingual candidates and individuals from traditionally underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
