Six Degrees Affordable Class Series

Let's face it, open classes in NYC are incredible, but not cheap! Six Degrees Dance's monthly affordable class series, taught by company members and guest artists, is designed to connect dancers and provide them with fun, intimate, encouraging workshop-style classes that won't break their bank account! The series encourages teaching artists to explore concepts and ideas that interest them in order to develop their own practice while offering experiences that are different from traditional open classes. Classes are $10 and all proceeds go toward booking space and paying teachers.

Come dance with us on December 14th from 4:30-6pm

December’s class will be taught by guest teacher, Claire Goldes.

Claire’s class is rooted in contemporary dance, driven by a love of movement and a feeling of abundance. Warmup is informed by Claire’s background in Pilates and other somatic practices, allowing movers to drop into their bodies and connect with breath, alignment, and organization through activation. Phrase work is shared with an invitation to bring oneself to the movement, welcoming personal instincts and aesthetic choices. In this class, we move toward what feels good, reconnecting with pleasure, joy, and celebration within our practice. We show up to breathe and move together, to meet one another where we’re at, and to foster an environment where we can all shine.

Claire Louise Goldes is a Brooklyn-based artist whose choreographic work has been presented at PAGEANT and Triskelion Arts thanks to CreateART, as well as Spark Theatre Festival, Bridge for Dance’s Uptown Rising, and SCOPIXdance in LA. As a freelance artist, she has performed with Adaptations Dance Theater, Trainor Dance, CROSS THE LINE Dance Company, Joey Anderson, Chelsea Thedinga, LanDance, and more. She was also a mentor and faculty for Adaptations’ summer training company, PIVOT. Claire holds BFAs in Dance Performance and Choreography and a BA in Psychological Science from the University of California, Irvine. On December 6th and 7th, she will be presenting a newly expanded version of THIS HAS BEEN THIS at Inclined Dance Project’s inQUAD at JACK.
