Emily Cargill and Dancers is producing Jacksonville's third annual Women Arts Exchange on Friday and Saturday, March 28 + 29 at the Jessie DuPont Center in Downtown Jax.  WAX is thrilled to call the Jessie home this year, as this collaboration is sure to cultivate one of the most innovative and inspiring artistic events in JAX.

WAX will promote, highlight and feature bold, unique and interesting women artists in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas in the visual and performance art genres. WAX is our way of paying homage to the important and necessary impact that women have had on our culture, our community and our world.

Last year, 30 of THE MOST innovative and interesting local visual artists presented their work at the Women Arts Exchange.  These women spanned from emerging through professional artists, working in mediums of all types such as painting, sculpture, 3-D installation, photography, print work and ceramics.

Last year, WAX presented 7 of the most daring, unique, sophisticated, compelling dance artists working professionally across the East Coast. The choreographers hailed from Atlanta, Tampa, Gainesville, NYC, D.C + Jacksonville and these female dance makers are the creatives of the future of contemporary dance.  The performance was jaw droppingly beautiful and full of wild abandon yet carefully crafted contemporary movement scores.

The Women Arts Exchange is honored to collaborate for the 3rd year in a row with Women Writing for (a) Change / Jacksonville, offering audiences a spoken word experience while the participating dancers of WAX respond with an improvisational movement score.  To say this has been a meaningful artistic exchange would be an understatement - each year creating an emotional and visceral impact on audience members and performers alike.

Come, be a part of something beautiful and apply by midnight, Sunday January 12, 2025.  Choreographers will be notified of their acceptance by Saturday, January 18.
