Seeking Black / African American Choreographers

 

Mason Lee Dance Theater (MLDT) is seeking Black/African American choreographers to participate in the February Show of the Amplify Series, a performance series dedicated to helping marginalized choreographers in the NYC metro area. 

GUIDELINES: 

Choreographers are only allowed to present one work.

Choreographers may submit up to 2 works (per show) however they must submit 2 separate
applications and application fees.

Works in Progress may apply, however a rehearsal video of the process is requested.

Works may not exceed 8 minutes.

Dancers utilized in the showcase may only be in one work. 


Choreographers may only use up to 5 dancers in their work.


Choreographers must stay for the entire duration of the show for the Q & A.
 
Choreographers may only participate in one show per calendar year. However they may be
a dancer in other shows.

 

BENEFITS: 

Participants will receive a $50 stipend.

Participants will receive 4 free pictures of their work. They may request more for an additional
price.


Participants will receive a video recording of their work.


Receive a Commemorative Shirt at the end of the year


If not selected, Applicants will receive feedback on their work.
