Open Call for Choreographers: Apply to BalletCollective by February 2, 2025
BalletCollective’s Commission for Developing Choreographers is now in its 7th year. It offers both emerging and established choreographers the chance to partner closely with a composer and a “source artist” (any non-performative creator or thought leader) to produce an original dance-based work with an original score.
Two choreographers will be selected by an expert panel to make commissioned works to premiere with live musical accompaniment during BalletCollective’s annual fall season in New York, NY in 2026, which also has the honor of being BalletCollective’s 15th Anniversary Season. The choreographic fee will range from $9,000-$18,000 based on length of the commission—and that’s just the beginning of all the opportunity offers.
Submissions are due February 2, 2025.
BalletCollective will also provide dance studio space during creative residencies in New York, NY and Millbrook, NY; assistance with travel and housing during creative residencies in New York, NY and Millbrook, NY; the chance to work with an ensemble of exceptional dancers and musicians; and mentorship, guidance, and support.
The New York, NY residency will take place over two weeks in June 2026. The Millbrook, NY residency will take place over two weeks in July 2026. The New York, NY premiere will take place in late October or early November 2026.
