Absolute Construction

Absolute Construction

Absolute Construction probes into extremes of desperation and fun.  This dance trio exposes the link between bodily and psychological landscapes and is performed to a sound score of pop music and abstract electronic sound. Gathering strength through self-reflection, three dancers examine anxieties and playfulness within partnerships. Shattered concepts against a backdrop of mirrors creates an opportunity for both dancer and audience to become witnesses or voyeurs. As they encounter their own reflection, the participants are asked what is absolute or what is constructed?

The evening of work features Kate Martel’s Absolute Construction, a culmination of her MFA thesis which explores voice and the muted dancer. This trio was created by Kate Martel with contributions from the dancers.  Martel also presents choreography by Jacobs and Weber Gallo. These three dance artists unite as collaborators enlivened by their aesthetic divides and as well as alliances.
