Affordable Improvisation Community Class

Join dance educator, Anna Paterson, for an hour and a half of restorative contemporary improvisation. Throughout these classes, dancers will explore their connection to their bodies and the space around them. Paterson uses a combination of improvisation techniques such as GaGa, Continuum Movement, and Alexander Technique to develop a class that is restorative in nature, challenging yet accessible for all levels. Come and join us for two days of being in community.

About this instructor: 

Anna Paterson is a queer Brooklyn based performance artist, choreographer and dance educator. They hold a bachelor of science in dance education from Hofstra University and has held educator positions in both private and public schools. Paterson is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Dance at Florida State University. 

In 2019 Paterson founded Anna Paterson Dance Company and has had work shown in various venues in the eastern United States. Since 2020, Anna has choreographed a total of 7 works which would appear in the 2023 show, Joy! A Collection of Works at Arts on Site in Manhattan, New York. Anna Paterson’s mission is to spread the pure love and joy of dance and the beauty of queerness. Their work has been described as joyful, quirky and campy.
