Anna's Americana

Anna's Americana

The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, in association with the Dance Series at The 14th Street Y, is proud to present "Anna's Americana," a program of dance/theater works by Anna Sokolow that have a special connection to America.   By the great American modern dance pioneer are the 1984 "Preludes," music by Gershwin; "Homage to Edgar Allan Poe," and "Frida,' Sokolow's tribute to her friend Frida Kahlo and her last major work, created in 1997 when the choreographer was 87 years old.  Also on the program is the duet "Are We There Yet," choreographed by Alan Danielson and danced by company artistic director Jim May and special guest Clay Taliaferro. Music for three of the works will be played live by pianist Amir Khusrowpour.   The December 5th performance will be a Gala celebrating the life and artistry of Alan Danielson.
