Annual Lantern Festival

Annual Lantern Festival Twelve Contra Dances, photo by Eddie Chen

Celebrate the Lunar New Year - the Year of the Sheep - with festive lanterns, refreshments and a performance of works by H.T. Chen and Remy Charlip.    Special guest Lance Westergard will dance Charlip's solo "Forget the Past," created for Westergard and dedicated to Antony Tudor.   Westergard has also staged Charlip's cheery "Twelve Contra Dances," originally choreographed for two spools of brown and pink thread!   By H.T. Chen are excerpts from two of his works: "Warriors of Light," an abstract journey evoking imagery of the human spirit as it seeks to attain enlightenment; and his latest "South of Gold Mountain," an extensively researched dance/theater work about the Chinese men and women who emigrated to the U.S. to look for a better life, and settled in Southern states.  H.T. Chen and Dancers is currently touring the South with this major new production.
