This May, Omega Dance Company will partner with the Sacred Dance Guild, Middle Collegiate Church, Trinity Movement Choir, and the Church of the Village for a weekend of events with sacred dance pioneer and Omega founder Carla De Sola. Carla De Sola founded Omega Dance Company in NYC in 1974 and is the author of The Spirit Moves: Handbook of Dance and Prayer. She currently resides in Berkeley, Califorina where she directs Omega West Dance Company, and serves on the faculty at the Graduate Theological Union, and the Center for the Arts, Religion & Education and the Pacific School of Religion.

Friday, May 2nd - Welcome Reception, 6-8pm

Come meet Omega Dance Company’s founding director, Carla De Sola, and mingle with the sacred dance community. All are welcome!  We’ll eat, mingle, and share sacred dances “open mic style.”  Dances should be no longer than five minutes. A CD player and Bluetooth/auxiliary cord hookup for phones/mp3 players will be provided. Please bring a dish, drink, or dance to share.

Saturday, May 3rd - Sacred Dance Workshop, 10am-1pm (registration at 9:30am)
Middle School 131 Dance Studio, 100 Hester St. in Chinatown
In this sacred dance workshop, which will approach movement from an interfaith perspective, Carla will guide participants through a warm-up, movement explorations, and choreographed gestures to help participants discover what movement of the body can do to build movement of the soul.  No dance training necessary! Participants must be at least 12 years old.  Suggested donation: $25. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Saturday May 3rd - Rehearsal for Sunday Performance, 2-5pm
Church of the Village, 201 W. 13th St. @ 7th Ave.
Come for the workshop, then stay to learn a piece choreographed by Carla De Sola to be performed on Sunday. No dance training necessary! Participants must be at least 12 years old. If you plan to rehearse and perform, please also plan to attend the workshop.  Suggested donation: $10.
