BLINDSPOT at TAKE ROOT

BLINDSPOT Stephen Delas Heras

Based on George Orwell’s classic novel "1984," BLINDSPOT is a dance, live music, and media performance. In this work, the slogan of the party, “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength,” is translated into a movement narrative to create an immersive multimedia experience for the audience. It examines the current social, political, and economic reality during the Trump Era of the United States.

"I am a Latina Immigrant from Argentina waiting to take her U.S. citizenship test, while simultaneously diving into the disturbing parallels of the book "1984" to this current White House administration. I poured my passions, frustrations, and anger into this piece to create an eerie immersion for the audience into this all too familiar disturbing scenario." Carmen Caceres
